EU Review Sparks Fierce Debate

TobaccoIntelligence tells Planet of the Vapes that its new analysis reveals fierce debate over harm reduction, illicit trade, and economic fallout as supporters and sceptics flood the European Union nicotine policy review. It says that a “massive wave” of public engagement has hit the European Commission, with more than 80,000 submissions put in following the European Commission’s request for comments.

The Coalition of Asia Pacific Tobacco Harm Reduction Advocates (CAPHRA) says fresh allegations involving senior Philippine health officials should trigger urgent scrutiny of how foreign-funded and internationally aligned interests influence domestic health policy.
Complaints reported this week allege that Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and other Department of Health officials were involved in the diversion of P145.9 million intended for domestic health services to support a World Health Organization Western Pacific regional initiative.
