Vape Tax is Nigh
There is now less than one month until Vaping Products Duty and the Vaping Duty Stamps Scheme start and the government is reminding businesses to prepare. Both schemes go live from 1 October 2026. The Vaping Products Duty is a new excise duty on all nicotine and non-nicotine vaping liquids manufactured in, or imported into, the UK.
Australia Makes Wrong Choice Again
Against a backdrop of murders, kidnapping and firebombing, as gangs fight to control the vape and tobacco black market, the Australian government has again demonstrated that it has only wrong choices in its locker. Severe restrictions on vape products, huge taxes on cigarettes have fuelled gang warfare – and so it decides to ban nicotine pouches too!

Government vaping restrictions could cost public health up to £4.5 billion, according to Elfbar, a leading smoking cessation brand in the UK. IN addition, with over half of the UK adult population believing the misperception that vaping is as or more harmful than smoking, the company contends that the proposed restrictions risk reinforcing this among current smokers.

A New South Wales parliamentary inquiry has concluded that hiking Australia’s tobacco excise tax hasn’t detered smoking – only the purchase of legal tobacco. As illicit trade, crime, and revenue losses mount, the country is becoming an unwilling “poster case” for what’s wrong with the WHO’s high tobacco tax model.

Nearly half of vapers surveyed would consider buying cheaper black-market products, as the UK prepares to introduce a tax on vaping liquids next month.
The OnePoll survey, commissioned by vape retailer Vapekit, found 48 per cent of the full sample would consider illicit products because they cost less.
The findings come ahead of Vaping Products Duty on 1 October, charging £2.20 per 10ml of liquid, including nicotine-free varieties.
