EFVI Spain forms part of EFVI (European Free Vaping Initiative), a movement of citizens that fight to bring to the European Commission a debate to formalize their opinions with respect the classification of electronic cigarette and related products, against the upcoming Tobacco Products Directive implementation by proposing a legislation conforming to a consumer product that establishes the foundations for a free vaping without restrictions in Europe. To EFVI, anyone who already know these devices, their effectiveness and their positive impact on quality of life can not find a good reason to justify a classification as a medicinal or tobacco product. Especially when other products well-known with harmful effects remain freely available to the public.

As physicians and health professionals we see everyday patients who are severely affected by tobacco smoking, many of whom will eventually die or have their health severely affected despite our help and advice.

In light of the numerous studies undertaken to date we – as health professionals – cannot remain passive in the face of the clear public health benefits of electronic cigarettes. We therefore recommend that our colleagues actively learn more about electronic cigarettes as a new public health tool in the ongoing global health campaign against tobacco-related diseases.

We call on our colleagues to sign this declaration in support of the merits of electronic cigarettes based on scientific evidence and ethical debate.

To help and coordinate the MOVE launching, we have performed a standard Thunderclap (TC) in each language scheduled for Febuary 19 at 7 pm. You can use this TC or perform your own campaign (then tell us to cancel the standard TC for that language) but with the same date and time. Now you can start to promoting your TC to get as many supporters as you can. It consist of spread your corresponding link in all social networks as many as you can, calling for the support with facebook, twitter and tumblr.
