Vapers in Power Call to Action

Three things you can do this week to help keep vaping free from stupid regulations:

2. Write a letter to your local newspaper highlighting the economic consequences of Article 20 of the Tobacco Products Directive. Local papers are often short of letters to publish – and politicians do read their local papers. As it stands most vaping shops will close down once Article 20 is transposed into law ( there’s currently no TPD compliant device on the market) and each shop closure could represent 4 local job losses. 3. Record a video message to your local politician explaining how vaping has helped you and why excessive regulations and indoor vaping bans are ridiculous.

E-cigarettes are unattractive to non-smokers and there is no evidence they are a gateway to smoking, an expert has told Assembly Members.

“At the moment all vaping does is potentially save lives,” said Professor Peter Hajek, the co-author of a Public Health England-commissioned report which advocated the use of the devices to help people quit smoking…

Treasure trove in here of Populus poll into ‪#‎ecigs – ‬100Thousand

The first surprise from September’s Populus survey is just how many people are vaping. E-cigarette use which Action on Smoking and Health had found to be 2.6 million in May 2015 was up to 3.86 million regular users by the end of September.

One explanation for this very substantial jump is the effect of the strong endorsement for e-cigarettes in the Public Health England report in August 2015…

An update on Totally Wicked’s TPD challenge

The hearing of Totally Wicked’s challenge to Article 20 of the Tobacco Products Directive has just finished. The panel of judges referred the case to the advocate general for a report, which she will deliver on 17 December. A judgement will likely follow early in the new year.

The advocate general, who acts as an intermediary between the parties and the judging panel, will prepare a report with recommendations to the justices. It is the justices who will decide the outcome of the case….
