Israeli finance minister Avigdor Lieberman has recently announced what looks like so far the biggest tax-hike for vaping products internationally. The new scheme is set to tax vaping products to the same degree as conventional cigarettes. Surprisingly, no tax increase has been considered for deadly combustible cigarettes.

Canadian vapers call on federal government to ditch flavour ban

Today, vapers gathered in Ottawa to tell the newly re-elected liberal government that a flavour ban on vapour products will drive vapers back to smoking and discourage smokers from trying a potentially life-saving product.

The government said it clearly in its own regulatory proposal: “It is also anticipated that certain dual users would relapse to smoking only as a result of the proposal.”

The study, conducted by the International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation Project at the University of Waterloo, examined whether regular vapers from Canada, England and the United States who only use non-tobacco flavoured e-cigarettes, would support or oppose a ban on all non-tobacco flavours and how they would potentially respond to such a policy.

A controversial study is suggesting that flavoured vapes are less harmful than cigarettes to young people, and could be used to help them quit smoking.

The new research led by the University of East Anglia (UEA) in the UK examined the views and experiences of a half a million under 18s. The scientists wanted to find out if young people started vaping because they are attracted to e-liquid flavours and if this led them to start smoking tobacco.
