Poland and France Receive Criticism
International health experts and an advocacy organisation have criticised plans to tax nicotine pouches in Poland and ban disposables in France despite the health benefits they offer over smoking. Sweden, which is on the brink of being officially smoke free and has significantly lower smoking rates than Poland, has adopted a system of taxation proportionate to the risk of alternative products.
Preet Kaur Gill’s Parliamentary Questions
Preet Kaur Gill, the Labour Shadow Minister for Primary Care and Public Health, has asked a series of questions about vaping to the Department for Health and The Exchequer. Preet Kaur Gill asked the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care what steps are being taken to tackle the sale of illegal vapes on the black market.

The FDA just unveiled its Searchable Tobacco Products Database, which it says is a new list of over 17,000 tobacco products—including e-cigarettes—that may be legally marketed in the United States.
FDA said the database provides information on three categories of products:
1) New tobacco products that received marketing authorization through one of FDA’s three pathways to market a new tobacco product.
2) Pre-existing tobacco products established through a voluntary determination program.
3) Provisional tobacco products that were removed from review.

The NEW guidance, again written in partnership with Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID), makes the case for providing nicotine vapes as a first-line option for clients alongside medicinally licensed stop smoking products.
Ex-CTP Zeller Will Advise NRT Lobbyists

Former FDA Center for Tobacco Products director Mitch Zeller will join the advisory board of a pharmaceutical company attempting to shepherd a nicotine inhaler through the FDA drug approval process. The company once shared lies about Public Health England’s 2015 e-cigarette report and the report’s authors.
