Prescription-only Warning
Dr Sarah Jackson has issued a warning as prescription-only access to vapes is being proposed as a regulatory compromise in the UK that could restrict youth uptake while enabling access for smoking cessation. She says that evidence from Australia’s experience “suggests this model neither prevented experimentation among never-smokers nor facilitated the widespread use of regulated products for cessation, instead shifting use toward unregulated supply channels”.
Leading Quit Countries Revealed
Europe is on the fast track to a smoke-free future—and some countries are leading the charge. While nearly one in four adults in the region still smoke, certain nations are making quitting easier than ever. Tablites has analysed various factors in the latest data to determine the top 10 European countries most committed to helping smokers quit for good.
Stress Driving Smoking Rates
Smoking rates remain steady or even increased in certain areas despite the UK rate falling to a record low of 10.6% – vaping experts ask why some regions are bucking the national trend. New data from the experts at Vape Superstore reveals a correlation between stress levels and the number of active smokers in each UK city.
Convenience Sector Reveals Ban Impact
Talysis, the UK’s specialist convenience insight agency, has revealed the full impact of last year’s disposable vapes ban as part of its review into the Convenience sector for 2025. The organisation concludes that the convenience sector is bearing the brunt of ban, “still reeling” from “the triple whammy of reduced footfall, lower turnover and increased store costs, fuelled by a lack of consumer adoption for reusable alternatives.”
