“Smoking amongst young people is continuing to decline but 1 in 12 young people are still smoking by the age of 15. If we are to succeed in achieving the smokefree generation called for by the Health Minister Jeremy Hunt, there is still much more to be done.”

Altria and Philip Morris International recently announced that they would expand their agreement to sell e-cigarettes. This deal isn’t surprising since the two companies used to be a single entity. Altria, which generates all of its sales domestically, spun off its overseas operations as PMI back in 2008…..

A sharp decline in the number of smokers using an NHS support programme to help them quit has been linked to the rise in popularity of e-cigarettes. The Smoking Matters service in Dumfries and Galloway helped 102 people in deprived areas kick the habit in the past year – 251 below target….
