Two Years Later: Where Is the Evidence Canada’s Nicotine Pouch Policy Is Working?

Minister Mark Holland. The Ministerial Order was intended to reduce the appeal of, access to
and recreational use of nicotine replacement therapies by young people, while maintaining
access for adults using them to quit smoking.
Last week, the newly formed Ontario Nicotine Action Table — ONAT — announced its big plan to tackle tobacco and nicotine use in Ontario. And they called it a “Made-in-Ontario Plan.” Great opportunity to capture the buy local vibe that is taking over Ontario and Canada!

Federal Health Minister Marjorie Michel says she’s not considering changes to regulations that restrict the sale of nicotine pouches, while tobacco control groups say the government needs to do more to tamp out the illicit market.
Health Canada regulates nicotine pouches as an aid to quit smoking and restricts their sales to adults. They are not allowed to be sold for recreational use and must be kept behind the counter at pharmacies.
Vapes Could Be Seized from You in UK Under New Rules

Holidaymakers bringing vapes back to the UK from abroad could have them confiscated at the airport under a new rule that starts on Thursday, October 1. From the start of October, travellers arriving in England, Scotland, or Wales can only bring back 50ml of vape liquid without paying tax, the same as five standard 10ml bottles.

VTA Launches Ad Campaign on Vaping Regs

The Vapor Technology Association (VTA) launched a seven-figure cable, broadcast, and digital advertising campaign urging President Donald Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to replace the FDA’s current Premarket Tobacco Product Application (PMTA) framework with what the trade group describes as clear, science-based guidance for vapor products. The campaign is running on Fox News programming, Truth Social, and X. VTA said the campaign cites a poll showing 71% support for replacing the current PMTA rules with scientific guidelines.
