A hospital worker has said he feels “tons better and healthier” after ditching cigarettes in favour of vaping, as figures showed one in 10 adults in the UK were now using e-cigarettes.
Paul Brittain, 53, a senior research nurse at York Hospital, said he had noticed health improvements by taking part in a hospital project called Swap and Stop for two years.

ASH Adult Data Released
Health charity Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) has released its annual data drop for adult use of vaping products. The survey finds that vapes have been the most popular aid to quitting among those who have successfully stopped smoking in the last 5 years. The latest survey shows that overall 5.6 million adults currently vape, 53% who whom have stopped smoking, 39% are still smoking and 8% have never smoked.

The Association of Convenience Stores has announced that help and support is available to any vape retailer who has suffered during the widespread rioting and looting that swept across England recently. One example, the sixteen-year-old in Merseyside who joined in with the rioting, stealing from a store…and must be built like a pack mule.
Does vaping cause cardiovascular disease?

WHILE VAPING MAY POSE A RISK of cardiovascular harm, such as heart attacks or strokes, there is currently no definitive evidence to confirm this. Long-term epidemiological studies are needed to provide more conclusive answers.
However, the potential harm is likely to be small in most cases and significantly less than that caused by cigarette smoking. The risk is greatest in heavy or long-term vapers and those with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions.
DUET study seeks to answer questions about dual use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes

When someone uses both e-cigarettes and combustible cigarettes, it’s called “dual use.” And those interested in public health and tobacco policy disagree on whether dual use is harmful, potentially beneficial or neutral – because there isn’t much research on what dual use actually means in day-to-day life.
“There’s lots of disagreement as to whether dual use is a good thing or a bad thing,” said Matthew Carpenter, Ph.D., co-leader of the Cancer Prevention and Control research program at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center and the Flora McLeod Edwards Distinguished Endowed Chair in Cancer Research at MUSC.
