Pageant girl’s mum faces backlash after a VAPING company sponsor the 7-year-old £100 to promote their shop
The Sun,
Layla Thompson, from County Durham, is now being sponsored by Vapour Love, an e-cigarettes business, in return for wearing branded company clothing. THE mum of a seven-year-old pageant queen who wears make up, fake tan and skimpy outfits has faced a backlash after the youngster was sponsored by a vaping company.
ASH Comment on Vapour Love sponsorship
“It is completely irresponsible for a company that sells an age restricted product to promote their brand through a seven-year old girl. The ASA rules expressly forbid the use of children to market the sale of e-cigarettes and we have made a complaint that this breaches those rules.”
FDA’s new plan to reduce the nicotine in cigarettes to sub-addictive levels could be a game-changer
Robert N. Proctor, BMJ
On 28 July 2017, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Chief Scott Gottlieb, MD, announced a bold new plan to limit the nicotine allowed in manufactured cigarettes. Gottlieb, a Trump appointee revealing C Everett Koop-like potential, pointed out that cigarettes remain the leading preventable cause of death in the USA, killing nearly half a million Americans every year.

Toni Clarke, Reuters
The chief executive of Philip Morris International said he was “extremely encouraged” by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recent proposal to lower nicotine levels in cigarettes and nudge smokers toward less harmful alternatives such as e-cigarettes.
Negligible Evidence of Radical Nicotine Reduction Benefit
Brad Rodu, Tobacco Truth
An August 17 commentary in the New England Journal of Medicine (here) by FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb and Center for Tobacco Products Director Mitchell Zeller raises some concern about the agency’s new tobacco regulation strategy.

Melissa Kress, Convenience Store News
Electronic cigarettes and vaping products are still the relatively new kid on the tobacco block, but they have not escaped the watchful eye of federal, state and local lawmakers.
Take taxation. Like cigarettes and other products on the backbar, state legislators are beginning to set levies on vapor products.

Lowering nicotine in cigarettes is a gateway to smoking
Kevin Crowley, Vaping Links
Instead of the US Government taking tobacco use by the balls by focusing on less harmful alternatives – they are playing a slow and never-ending game of badminton with tobacco.
Is it safe to vape without nicotine?
Vaping Post
Most medical experts now agree that e-cigarettes are a lot safer than their old-style tobacco counterparts, but a lot of smokers who’re thinking about trying them still have some questions. One thing that (strangely) we’re hearing more often is the question, “Is it safe to vape without nicotine?”
Not Blowing Smoke, Vaping Works
Lila Abass, American Council on Science and Health (ACSH).
There is zero doubt that the harms associated with smoking are considerable. Thanks to public health efforts, smoking cigarettes is recognized as one of the biggest contributors to death and disability globally. This is why when tools become available to reduce or eliminate cigarette use we should embrace it versus shooting it down with false fears.

FDA: Innuendo and hidden plans revealed
VapingPost
District Court of Washington D.C. received on Friday the FDA’s reply to the consolidation of Nicopure and the Coalition’s actions. Some of the FDA’s plans for vaping are revealed in the text.
In its cross-motion for summary judgment, the Agency asked the Court to simply reject the case. An action that, depending on Judge Jackson’s decision, would put a term to the legal action of the vaping industry against the FDA’s deeming regulation of e-cigarettes but not necessarily to any action against the FDA, especially those filed in other Justice Courts.
