EU’s Nic Tax Opposed

International health experts are defending Sweden’s world-leading smoke-free success against EU overreach that could jeopardise it with a 700% tax increase on nicotine pouches. Smoke Free Sweden has submitted its formal response to the Ministry of Finance on the European Commission’s proposed tobacco excise directive, urging it to protect Sweden’s harm reduction model that has delivered the lowest smoking rates in Europe.

More Illegal Vapes Seized

Trading Standards officers from Staffordshire County Council are delighted to announce that they have seized illegal vapes, illicit tobacco and cigarettes during raids in Newcastle. Officers supported by Staffordshire Police and specialist search dogs made the discovery during raids at three premises.

Parliamentary Matters 2

As well as a continuation of questions and answers from Westminster, it’s another case of ‘all change’ as the government plays musical chairs and POTV attempts to keep up. In what may be Mary Creagh and Diana Johnson’s last time fielding questions, Katie White MP wanted to know about the environmental impact of vapes and Andrew Rosindell MP asked about the efficacy of enforcement provisions in the Tobacco and Vapes Bill.
