Five From Dave Cross, Planet of the Vapes
Vape Retailers Fear Store Closures
Paul Cheema, the organiser behind the Protect Your Store, Have Your Say” campaign, is saying that 1 in 10 retailers are telling him they fear the Tobacco and Vapes Bill will lead to store closures. From polling conducted by Merlin Strategies, retailers are stating that they will consider closing their stores as the drop in sales from vape products will result in their already hard-hit businesses becoming unviable.
EU Tax Paper Released
The World Vapers’ Alliance (WVA) has released its position paper on the European Commission’s proposal to revise the Tobacco Excise Directive, warning that the plan would punish millions of smokers trying to quit and undermine Europe’s smoke-free goals.
Eight Mount Everests
Five million vapes are thrown away each week and experts at Vape Superstore have calculated and visualised how this compares to famous landmarks around the world such as the Eiffel Tower and Mount Everest. The results are truly staggering. The company offers up some recycling suggestions by way of a solution.
Gen Z Fear Vape Nanny State
With the recent news regarding the rollout of Digital ID cards, vape bans and banning BOGOF offers, there’s been considerable discussion about whether this government regulation oversteps boundaries and interferes with personal choice. New data, from Northerner, reveals that 41% of Brits and 47% of Gen Z Brits believe the UK is becoming a “nanny state.”
Guernsey Encouraging Piracy
Concerned retailers contacted Planet of the Vapes to express their concerns as politicians in Guernsey voted to “introduce a legal framework to regulate vapes akin to the legislation in place that regulates tobacco products”. The language they use is almost identical to that being bandied around in the UK parliament at this moment in time and should scare anyone who enjoys vaping or is concerned about tobacco harm reduction.
