Vapers Stockpiling Juices
According to a new survey by Nicotine pouch experts Alternix, almost half of the UK’s vapers planned to stockpile bottle of vape juice before this week’s misguided vape tax is introduced. Incredibly, a third haven’t even heard about the Vaping Products Duty being imposed this Thursday. Meanwhile, more than one in ten (13%) are considering quitting nicotine altogether due to the tax.
Price Hike Will Blindside Vapers
Ambitions for a smoke-free Britain could ‘go up in smoke’ as around half of adult vapers fear they will return to smoking or turn to the black market once the Vaping Products Duty (VPD) comes into effect, the UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) told Planet of the Vapes. It added that its new research also highlighted that the majority of adult vapers were unaware that the cost of their vaping products is set to rise this Thursday.
Flavour Rule Risks Becoming Flavour Ban
The government’s plan to restrict vape juice flavour names runs the risk of becoming a de-facto vape flavour ban, warn campaigners. They tell Planet of the Vapes that single names could collapse dozens of different products into one word. Examples given by the government include Cola, Bubblegum, and Cheesecake. The government’s consultation closes this week – it is vital that all vapers respond by the deadline!
Urgent Government Talks Needed
One of the UK’s leading vaping retailers, Vape Club, spearheaded by Dan Marchant, is urging HMRC to ‘reconsider the rate’ of the ‘grossly underestimated figure’ for the new Vaping Products Duty (VPD) tax. The tax will be introduce THIS THURSDAY, October 1, 2026, adding a flat excise tax of 22p per millilitre (£2.20 per 10ml) plus VAT on all e-liquids.

We surveyed 2,068 vapers to find out their views about the new UK vape duty and how they think it could affect them.
Almost 90% told us that it would have a major or moderate effect on their finances, while only half said they would still have switched to vaping if the tax had been in place at the time. More than one in five vapers said they would be more likely to buy legal tobacco, illegal vapes or illegal tobacco as a result of the higher prices.

Nearly one in five young adults now vape. Gallup’s August survey found that 9 percent of adults overall use vapes. Nicotine pouches also skew young.
