Crackdown On Rogue Traders

The government has announced that it is embarking on a crackdown on rogue traders who are selling vapes to children – and ASH repeats a call for plain packaging. As part of the move, the government has published a call for evidence to seek expert views on introducing new rules for retailers selling tobacco, vapes and nicotine products.

FDA Overreach Petition

The Smoke-Free Alternatives Trade Association, the United States Vaping Association, and the United Vapers Alliance consumer groups have created a petition to address overreach by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The FDA’s actions come despite Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy recognising the relative safety of novel nicotine products.

Spanish Government Warned

Leading international health experts have issued a strong warning to the Spanish government over its draft tobacco bill, cautioning that equating safer nicotine alternatives with cigarettes will condemn millions of smokers to continue with their deadly habit. The Smoke Free Sweden movement says the bill risks robbing smokers of these potentially life-saving options.

IBVTA React to Evidence Call

The Independent British Vape Trade Association (IBVTA) says it welcomes the call for evidence published yesterday by the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), which seeks evidence to develop specific policies on vaping. The call for evidence will run for 8 weeks and ends on December 3rd.

Parliament Matters

Like delighted puppies being offered an insignificant treat, POTV readers will be thrilled to discover that there have been more discussions in Parliament about vaping and tobacco harm reduction. Kevin Hollinrake is worried about pubs, Mike Wood is thinking about outdoor spaces, and Lord Kamall is concerned about the ten-year plan.
