NNA Condemns False Information
Dave Cross, Planet of the Vapes
The New Nicotine Alliance has strongly condemned uncorrected false information about the harm reduction charity by authors from The Truth Initiative and the University of Chicago. A research paper was published in late January “which contained wholly false allegations about the New Nicotine Alliance.”
Alan Gor, Australia Let’s Improve Vaping Education (A.L.I.V.E.)
In a country where 24,000 people die each year from smoking-related diseases, you’d hope our public health approach would be rooted in compassion, pragmatism, and evidence. Sadly, Australia’s Tackling Tobacco program, run by Cancer Council WA, is emblematic of how ideology continues to trump real solutions in the fight against tobacco harm.
On the surface, Tackling Tobacco sounds like a benevolent initiative. It offers to partner with community service organisations to embed smoking cessation practices into their everyday operations. The goal? To “achieve organisation-wide change” and help clients quit smoking through a structured six-step framework.
Two from Clearing The Air
“No more lobbying budgets”, tobacco control NGOs told
Alastair Cohen
Dozens of public health NGOs – including some lobbying hard against safer nicotine products – have been told they can no longer use EU funds to lobby Europe’s institutions.
Clearing the Air understands that the European Network for Smoking Prevention (ENSP) – which, despite the name, has been lobbying hard for vape bans at the EU level – were told in no uncertain terms that they can no longer use taxpayer funding provided by the EU to lobby for their preferred policies.
Vape and HTP users report less lung symptoms than smokers, new Italian study finds
Ali Anderson
Former smokers who use vapes or HTPs report lung symptom levels similar to people who have never smoked
Findings suggest these nicotine alternatives do NOT worsen respiratory health when used as substitutes for smoking
The longer someone had smoked, the worse their respiratory symptoms were likely to be
Researchers approved powerful new tool to test for even minor respiratory symptoms in former smokers
What Prohibitionists Get Wrong About Flavors and Youth Vaping
James Spillane, NH Journal
New Hampshire, like many states, is grappling with how best to protect youth while addressing adult smoking, still the leading cause of preventable death in both our state and across the United States. As policymakers weigh potential restrictions on flavored tobacco and vapor products, it’s critical to consider both the scientific evidence and the real-world impacts of these measures.
When Cloud Chasing Becomes Clout Chasing: A Supply and Demand Problem
Joseph Hart, The Daily Pouch
Some people have an irrational hatred of vaping and pouches. Other people’s entire raison d’être depends on promoting lies about these harm-reduction products, whether that’s directionless politicians, clicks-obsessed media, or the NGOs and lobbyists that make up tobacco control.
Between each of these groups, there is a voracious demand for death or serious illness from vapes or pouches. However, despite tobacco control’s wishful thinking, reality stubbornly refuses to deliver the mangled or dead bodies their far-out prophecies predict.
Swedish MEP Jessica Polfjärd: Europe needs more snus, not more bans
SnusForumNet
As EU leaders prepare to overhaul tobacco rules, Swedish MEP Jessica Polfjärd is calling for a reality check — and defending Sweden’s success story in the fight against smoking.
“Snus is already banned outside of Sweden, and now we’re seeing the same push against white snus,” Polfjärd warns in a new opinion piece published in the Borås Tidning newspaper, using the common Swedish term for nicotine pouches.
“But the Swedish model is not a problem — it’s a solution.”

Ian Golan, Modern Diplomacy
In its latest crusade against smoking, the European Union is preparing to yet again hike taxes on cigarettes, raising their prices by almost 30% through the Tobacco Excise Directive. The EU approach is a deeply regressive one that disproportionately harms low-income individuals, fuels illicit trade, and, as global experience shows, fosters sprawling black markets for cigarettes.
Far more effective and targeted strategies exist to counter smoking without any of the collateral damage, but they are left unexplored by EU politicians. European health policy leaders should embrace the blueprint for drastic smoking reduction set forth by the success of Sweden.
Can tech help you quit smoking? Experts say yes
The Manila Times
A new report from the World Vapers Alliance (WVA) suggests that e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches, and heated tobacco products could be the most effective tools for quitting smoking. The report claims that vaping is twice as effective for smoking cessation as traditional nicotine replacement therapies.
Manila Bulletin
Public health experts called on the World Health Organization (WHO) to reform its approach to tobacco control and acknowledge harm reduction as a better approach to assist more than a billion smokers worldwide.
A panel organized by the Taxpayers Protection Alliance (TPA) described the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control’s (FCTC) two decades of tobacco control efforts as stagnant, characterized by missed opportunities and a risky opposition to innovation.
Tax boost on safer nicotine options will harm Iowans
Jason Semprini, The Gazette
Iowa lawmakers continue to advance Senate File 638, a proposal to raise taxes on e-cigarettes and nicotine pouches — products many Iowans use as safer alternatives to cigarettes and chewing tobacco.
While proponents may frame this bill as a health measure or a revenue generator, the reality is that it would punish people who are actively trying to move away from more harmful habits. This policy would create new barriers to better health, harming Iowans in the process.
THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF VAPOR | GFN SCIENCE FAQ: PART 4
Global Forum on Nicotine
Vaping has been shown to be 95% safer than smoking, but what do the chemistry of vapor and smoke, and the key differences between them, tell us about WHY these products are so different? Joining us again for the fourth part of our vaping science series is astrophysicist Roberto Sussman, who expertly explains the science behind vaping!
A look back at how things have moved on or otherwise…
CoEHAR researchers opposes study
On pulmonary inflammation caused by vaping
With a letter sent to the editor of the prestigious The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, CoEHAR researchers want to clarify the results of a pilot study that used tomography to compare lung inflammation between smokers and non-smokers. According to the research team from Catania, led by prof. Riccardo Polosa, the analysis of the images does not prove any causality between the use of electronic cigarettes and related lung damage.
